Orest Baran (24. 05. 1955, Lviv) - bandura player, conductor. Son of Mykhailo, brother of Taras Baran. Member of the Union of Kobzars of Ukraine. He graduated from the Lviv Conservatory. Graduated from Lviv Conservatory (1979, class of V. Herasymenko). 1979-95 - soloist, 1995-98 - deputy, since 1998 - director of the Lviv Philharmonic. Participant of a number of concert programmes in Ukraine and abroad. Since 1998 - director of the annual international music festival "Virtuosos" (Lviv). His solo works include works by Ukrainian composers, arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs. Thematic programme "Our Duma, Our Song", Ukrainian folk dumas and historical songs of the 16th and 17th centuries.
