Avdeev Vadym Mykolayovych

1933-1997

Vadym Mykolaiovych Avdeyev (23 December 1933, Zinovievsk - 23 January 1997, Kyiv) was a Ukrainian singer (tenor). Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (since 1969). Laureate of the 1st Mykola Lysenko Republican Competition (first prize, 1962). Husband of actress and radio announcer Olena Kovalenko.

Biography.
Born on 23 December 1933 in Zinovievsk (now Kropyvnytskyi). He studied singing with O. Petliash. Graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory (class of D. Petrynenko).

In 1956-1958, he was a soloist of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Kyiv Military District, in 1958-1960 - of the Ukrainian Folk Choir named after H. Veriovka, in 1960-1986 - of the Kyiv Philharmonic. In 1987-1997, he was a teacher of the studio of the H. Veriovka Ukrainian Folk Choir.

His repertoire included works of national and foreign classics, Ukrainian folk songs.

He died on 23 January 1997. He was buried in Kyiv at the Baikove Cemetery.
