Avanesov Georgy Andreyevich

1922-1982

Georgiy Andriyovych (Ambartsumovych) Avanesov (21 June 1922, Luhansk - 17 October 1982, Voroshilovhrad, now Luhansk) was a Ukrainian conductor.
In 1948, he graduated from the Luhansk Music College, and since then he has been its teacher.

Creative activity
Since 1945, he has been the organiser and artistic director of the amateur orchestra of folk instruments of the House of Culture of the Luhansk Locomotive Plant. All of Avanesov's creative activity is connected with this orchestra. During the years of his leadership, the orchestra was awarded the title of amateur orchestra, and in 1967 - the title of "Honoured Orchestra of the Ukrainian SSR". In 1987, the orchestra was named after Avanesov.

Titles and awards
1978 - Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian SSR.
He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour and medals.
