His background and education
Volodymyr Astrakhantsev was born in Kharkiv into a family of musicians. He graduated from the Kharkiv Special Music Boarding School, then from the Kyiv State Conservatory and postgraduate studies (student of Bohodar Kotorovych).

He taught at the Kharkiv State University of Arts.
Creative work
Astrakhantsev's international career began with a tour of Germany with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Robert Hanell. Vladimir Astrakhantsev has toured with various orchestras in Eastern and Western Europe, Scandinavia, the Far East, Central Asia and the United States. For many years he was the concertmaster of the Munich Chamber Orchestra, with whom he also played as a soloist.
At present, Vladimir Astrakhantsev is the concertmaster of the Zurich Symphony Orchestra and also works in the Philharmonic Orchestra of Southwest Germany in Konstanz.
Among Vladimir Astrakhantsev's recordings are works by Antonino Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Bach, Niccolo Paganini, F. Waxman, Alfred Schnittke, Arno Babajanyan, Miroslav Skorik and other 20th century composers.
Awards.
In 1984, Volodymyr Astrakhantsev won the Ukrainian Republican Violin Competition.
He is a laureate of the VII Tchaikovsky International Music Festival.
