Antoniuk Roman Vladimirovich

1970

Roman Antoniuk (born 6 March 1970, Lviv, Ukrainian SSR, USSR) is a singer, bandura player, Honoured Artist of Ukraine.
Roman Antoniuk was born on 6 March 1970 in Lviv.

He graduated from the Lutsk Music College (bandura class of Yuliy Bokovyi).

In 1994, he graduated from the Lviv Conservatory (now the Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Music Academy) with a degree in bandura from Vasyl Herasymenko, and also studied at the vocal faculty in the classes of Volodymyr Ihnatenko and Petro Onchul.

Participant in a masterclass in solo singing taught by Professor Willy Workman (Hamburg University of Music).

In 1997, he became a soloist at the Dnipro Opera and Ballet Theatre. A year later, in 1998, Roman Antoniuk started performing with the Kyiv State Men's Choir named after L. Revutskyi. He performed the title role in the New Opera "Andriy Bulba" by composer Ivan Nebesnyi (Kyiv, 1999).

In 1999, he co-founded and participated in a duet with Serhiy Bezrukov (countertenor, accordionist, composer, Kyiv). They recorded the CD "Ave Maria".

2002 - member of the international folk-jazz ensemble (Hamburg. Germany) Roman Antonyuk - Bandura, Gesang -Ukraine /Yana Mishenina - Gesang, Violin -Russia/, Sergei Bezrukov - Knopfakkordeon, Gesang -Ukraine/, Jogi Jockusch - Percussions -Deutsch/, Gros Ngolle-Pokossi - Bass- Frankreich/, Data Malazonia -Klavir-Georgia.

2006 - collaborates with the Lviv Philharmonic, becoming a soloist of the Philharmonic Ensemble of Instrumental Music "High Castle" (Lviv).

Since 2007, he has collaborated with the Polish clarinetist, composer and conductor Wojtek Mrozk in the project "Four Tenors" for Euro 2012. The concerts of the project took place in the most prestigious halls of Poland.

As a solo performer and as a member of musical groups, he participated in music festivals. He is a laureate of music competitions.

In 2007, he joined the vocal formation "Tenors BEL'CANTO".

Throughout the entire creative period, together with his wife, pianist Khrystyna Antkiv, he has been participating in a family duet. The duo has prepared concert programmes that are presented in Ukraine and abroad.

He has performed solo programmes in concert halls: Austria, England, Albania, Bulgaria, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Macedonia, Poland, France, Spain, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Canada, and the Netherlands.

In 2014, the duo was awarded the Andrey Sheptytsky Medal.

Since 2018, he has been a member of the National Union of Kobzars of Ukraine.

In 2018, he became the founder and artistic director of the Bandura Chapel in Hannover, Germany.

In May 2019, he was awarded the title of Honoured Artist of Ukraine.
