Andrusenko Dmitry Vasilyevich

Dmytro Vasylovych Andrusenko (4 October 1895, Reshetylivka - 18 July 1965) was a Ukrainian conductor, bandura player, teacher; organiser and conductor of the Bandura Bandura Chapel (Sumy).

Biography.
He was born in Reshetylivka, Poltava region. He learned to play the bandura from Vasyl Osadko. In 1921, he completed his studies in Poltava. From 1927-32, he led various choirs and bandura bands in Poltava region. He was a master of Ukrainian folk musical instruments (banduras, cymbals, flutes). In 1921 he graduated from a two-year conducting course in Poltava. Since 1921, he has been a music teacher in Resheteleivka. He organised a bandura chapel in Reshetylivka in 1927 and in Vepryk in 1931, and in Shalyhyne in 1945 in Sumy region.

In 1932, he was repressed. Repressed in 1937 "for participating in a counter-revolutionary organisation". He was tried in the case of Chumak Nikifor. The term of imprisonment was not established. After his rehabilitation, he moved to Sumy, where he led the bandura band at the Palace of Culture from 1947. In 1949, he created a children's bandura chapel there. He is the author of numerous songs. He made his own musical folk instruments.
