Ukrainian composer, Honored Artist of Ukraine (1995), member of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine since 1990, member of the All-Ukrainian Music Union since 1995. Laureate of the Ilya Slatin Municipal Prize (1997), the Ivan Ohienko All-Ukrainian Prize (1999), the Diploma of the President of Ukraine (1999), the Order of Merit, III degree (2009), and the Mykola Lysenko Prize (2010).
Biographical information
Born in Kirovobad (now Ganja, Azerbaijan), he spent his childhood in Poltava region. In 1977, he graduated from the Folk Orchestra Department of the Kharkiv State Institute of Culture (now the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture); in 1989, he graduated from the Kharkiv Ivan Kotliarevskyi Institute of Arts, composition class of Volodymyr Zolotukhin.
From 1992 to 2021, he was the musical director of the Kharkiv Municipal Theater of Folk Music of Ukraine "Oberegi". He participated in the II All-Ukrainian Festival "Golden-Domed Kyiv" with his author's concert "Awakening" (1998).
He worked as an artistic director of the village house of culture (Persha-Starovirovka village, 1970), concertmaster of the Honored Dance Ensemble of Ukraine "Kvitka" at the Palace of Culture of KhEMZ (1974-1976) and concertmaster of the Kharkiv State Academic Russian Drama Theater named after A. S. Pushkin (1976-1991), since 1991 - senior lecturer, since 2000 - associate professor at the Kharkiv State University of Arts named after Ivan Kotliarevskyi.
