Alekseev Yuriy

1936-2004

Alekseev Yurii Vasyl'ovych (born 29 April 1936, Belkovo, Khvoyninsky district, Novgorod region, RSFSR - died 5 November 2004, Dnipro, Ukraine) was a Ukrainian conductor, chief conductor of the Dnipro Ukrainian Music and Drama Theatre. Brother of conductor Oleksandr Alekseev.

He studied at the Music School at the Leningrad Conservatoire and then at the Ural Conservatoire.

In 1968-1989, he was the chief conductor of the Kryvyi Rih Russian Drama and Musical Comedy Theatre.

In 1989-1991, he worked as the chief conductor of the Gorky Crimean Academic Russian Drama Theatre in Simferopol and the Shchepkin Sumy Regional Drama and Musical Comedy Theatre.

In 1991-2002, he was the conductor of the Dnipro Ukrainian Music and Drama Theatre. In 1997-2004, he also worked at the Youth Theatre of Dnipro.
