Biography.

Borys Alekseenko was born on August 19, 1929 in Krasnodar.

He received his musical education in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) at the Conservatory Music School (composition class of V. Salmanov, 1953) and the Kyiv Conservatory (composition class of Konstantin Dankevich, 1958). He also studied at the class of symphony conducting of Mykhailo Kanerstein.

In 1958-1962, he worked as a teacher of music theory at the Ternopil Music School. Later, he was a lecturer at the Kyiv Institute of Theater Arts (1963-1966), music editor of the Ukrainian Studio of Chronicle and Documentary Films (1962-1967), head of the music and pedagogical literature department of the Music Ukraine Publishing House (1967-1973), and chief music editor of the Dovzhenko Film Studio (1973-1989).

Since 1989, he has been the Chairman of the Board of the Music Fund of the NSCU.

Laureate of the A. Aleksandrov Medal (1980).
