Abadzhyan Garriy Artushevich

1939

Ukrainian bassoonist, art critic, first vice-rector of the Kharkiv National University of Arts named after I. P. Kotlyarevsky. People's Artist of Ukraine (2010), Honored Artist of Ukraine (1993). Candidate of Arts (1982), Professor (1983). He is a holder of the Order of Merit of the III degree. He lives and works in Kharkiv.

Biography.

Graduated from the Borys Liatoshynskyi Kharkiv Music College, and in 1968 from the Kharkiv Institute of Arts (now the Ivan Kotliarevskyi Kharkiv National University of Arts).

Since 1969, he has been working in the orchestra of the Mykola Lysenko Kharkiv State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater (1969-1975 - soloist).

At the same time, since 1979, he has been a bassoon teacher at the Kharkiv Institute of Arts (in 1983-2017 - Head of the Department of Orchestral, Wind and Percussion Instruments; in 2005-2021 - Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs).

Teacher at the Kharkiv Secondary Specialized Music Boarding School.

Since 1993, he has been the founder and artistic director of the Slobozhansky Youth Symphony Orchestra.

In 2006, he became a laureate of the Kharkiv People's Recognition Award in the Music nomination.

On January 20, 2010, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.
